DIY Hand Sanitizer

Here is a simple recipe to make your own hand sanitizer.

Who am I? I am Helen Ward, an herbalist from Three Springs Farm of Vermont, Waitsfield, VT and the Educational Director of Rosemary Gladstar’s The Science & Art of Herbalism Online and Herbal Home Study Course.

DIY Hand Sanitizer – DIY hand sanitizers must contain at least 90% alcohol (recommended by the CDC).

The recipe I follow:

  • 2/3 cup Everclear (using Everclear at 190 proof will keep the alcohol content at 90% for the CDC recommendations)

  • 1/3 cup aloe vera gel or glycerin

  • 10- 20 drops essential oil (Eucalyptus, Tea tree, Thyme, Lemon and Rosemary are some great options for adults and have antiviral properties

Combine all ingredients, place in small bottle – shake and use as needed!
